Making the Playdough
Begin by making a batch or two (we typically make one batch per child) of our one-pot playdough. This is our tried and true recipe that is super easy to make.
Or, if you prefer to make your play dough in a stand mixer, we have a super easy playdough recipe to share with you! You can find that recipe here.
After you’ve made your playdough, allow it to cool for a few minutes, and then carefully plop it onto a sheet of parchment paper.
While it cools, you can take out the additional supplies needed for this snow playdough activity and place them in your divided tray.
Once your playdough has cooled enough to handle, simply make a bit of an indentation in your playdough, add some green food coloring in the middle of your playdough, and fold your playdough over and over until the coloring has been incorporated.
We typically wear disposable gloves while coloring playdough, just to keep our hands from coming out rainbow-colored, but if you don’t have any on hand, you could always place the playdough (along with the food coloring that you’ve just added) on a piece of plastic wrap and use the plastic wrap as a sort of shield while you fold the food coloring into the playdough.
Once your playdough has been dyed, add in several drops of winter wreath essential oil and fold it in as you did with the food coloring.

Christmas Wreath Playdough Playtime!
Once your playdough has been colored and scented, place it into your divided tray, along with the other materials, and invite your child to play.
We made a simple invitation to play and set out some glass stones, pom poms, and gems.
Miss 7 decorated her wreath with red pom poms. So fun!

We also made a batch of snow flurry playdough and Christmas tree-scented playdough and had all sorts of Christmas playdough fun.
The baby (Miss 17 months) kept trying to run off with my oils! Not that I blame her – they do smell really good! 🙂

I grew up playing with homemade play dough but my mom never thought to add scent. I think this would be so fun to add some seasonal fun to school.
