We took our one pot playdough recipe and added peace and calming essential oil and the results were AMAZING! Homemade peace and calming playdough has definitely become one of our favorites- right up there with our lavender playdough and stress away playdough!
What You’ll Need
- Homemade playdough
- Peace and calming essential oil
- Food coloring
- Cookie cutters
- Scissors
- Mini rolling pin and playdough accessories
- Mini glow in the dark stars
What to Do
We started by making a double batch of our one pot playdough. Once it was cool enough to handle, we kneaded it a bit and added a few drops of blue food coloring. We then added several drops of peace and calming essential oil. You won’t believe how good it smells and it really does invoke a feeling of calm.
I wasn’t sure if I wanted to keep this batch all to myself, it smelled so good, haha! But the kids were so excited about trying it out that of course, I couldn’t keep the fun all to myself. 🙂 The playdough barely made it to the table before the kids picked it right back up and started playing with it. I also added a few glow in the dark stars to the playdough supplies (because stars = nighttime and sleep and relaxation- see where I’m going with this?) and the kids had a blast stamping them in the playdough. I kid you not, later that day, my oldest told me she was tired and wanted to take a nap. Since I haven’t heard those words out of her, well, ever, and she dropped taking naps several years ago, I’m going to credit her newfound desire to nap in the afternoon to our morning peace and calming playdough session. 🙂
