Review of Evan-Moor Math Fundamentals Grade 3 Book
I love how easy it is to keep the book open – something so simple and yet some books are so difficult to work in and that makes for frustrated students. Each page can also easily be removed thanks to their perforated lines. In the past, I have removed pages and put them in a folder, along with the other subjects for the day, which makes it easy to see what we’ll be working on that day.
I also found their large-sized, easy-to-read font and examples on the top of each page helpful.
Math Fundamentals is a terrific resource to reteach and reinforce important but perhaps otherwise difficult math concepts. This book would pair well with Evan-Moor’s Daily Math Practice book.
What is Taught in this Book?
- Place Value
- Operations
- Fractions
- Time, Mass, and Liquid Volume
- Attributes of Shapes
- Data Displays
- Much More!
I was impressed with how well this math book broke down each concept into something students can grasp. Miss 7 had no issues understanding each of the concepts we worked on, thanks in part to how well the concepts were taught in this book. I also appreciated all the visuals that were used – a must for any visual learners.
I also appreciated how they often asked for the thought process behind the answers. This makes it much easier to know if your student is truly understanding the concepts. The answer key is included in the back of the book as well, which is a must-have addition.

Did you use this as your curriculum for math, or just as a supplement? I am considering this for my daughter starting 4th grade. She likes worksheet format for math, and I want to make sure that I am fully teaching the concepts to her. Thanks for your help!

Great question! I used this as a supplement but I asked around and a blogger from Learn with Emily mentioned that if you use Math Fundamentals and Daily Math Practice, that it is a full curriculum. :)
