About How Does Bear Feel
How Does Bear Feel is a set of social-emotional learning cards that help children learn how facial features and pictures correspond to different emotions.
The pack includes:
- 50 double-sided story cards
- 20 bear emotion cards
- 1 instruction sheet
An example of one of the stories discussed on the cards is: "Bear was in art class. Her art teacher gave out pencils and paint and showed the class how to draw a fruit bowl. Bear got to work right away and painted a beautiful picture. The art teacher loved her painting and said Bear had done a great job! She hung it on the bulletin board for everyone to see."
Your children would then match that story to one of the Bear emotion cards and discuss it with you.
How to Play
- Read and discuss a Bear story with your child.
- Ask your child, "How does Bear feel?"
- Invite your child to find one or more Bear mention cards that match the emotions in the story.
- Ask your child if they can connect that emotion or feeling to something they have experienced in real life.
- Discuss the facial features and how they correspond to the emotion and how they change depending on the emotion or feeling.
- Talk about solutions to the issue discussed on the story card.
- You could even invite your child to make up a story and use the bear cards to match the emotions in the story.
