Cupcake liner flowers are one of our favorite crafts to make with the children because they require only basic supplies, are easy to put together, and no matter how many times we make them, the children always seem to make them differently than before. Read on to see how we made these adorable flowers.
What You’ll Need
- Cupcake liners
- Pom poms, sequins, buttons, etc.
- Paintbrush (optional)
- Popsicle stick or cake pop stick
- Construction paper
- Liquid school glue
- Hot glue gun
What to Do
Begin by selecting your cupcake liner and then squish it flat (the kids will love this part!).
Then, on the decorated or colored side (versus the plain side), glue on your pom poms, sequins, beads, or buttons. You could lay out a variety of items or limit it to only the items you’d like to work with (maybe you want to give the children the option of using glitter – maybe you don’t 😉 ). Miss 4 brushed liquid school glue on the center of her cupcake liner and then pressed her pom poms on. Miss 6 placed her pom poms on the center of her cupcake liner and then asked me to hot glue them on. Both methods worked, although the hot glue method was, of course, dry and ready to play with within seconds of gluing, while the liquid glue method took several hours to dry.
Once the glue has dried or cooled, turn the cupcake liner over and hot glue your cake pop stick on (you could also attach a popsicle stick). If you’d rather not use a hot glue gun for whatever reason, tape should also hold the stick on to your cupcake liner.
Next, cut out a couple leaves and attach them to the cake pop stick or popsicle stick (we used the hot glue gun).
Easy, right? And it’s so fun to see your child’s creative process throughout and how they decorate their cupcake liner flowers. We’ve made this simple craft many times and each time, the flowers come out so differently. It is definitely one of our favorite crafts for kids.
