Paper plate crafts are such an easy and fun project for the kids so we thought why not make a paper plate flower craft but add a little bit of animation to it. Read on to see how we took the simple paper plate craft to the next level!
What You’ll Need
- Paper plate (we used this size but regular would work too)
- Paint
- Paintbrush
- Green crinkle paper
- Cotton balls
- Popsicle stick or cake pop stick
- Construction paper
- Glue
- Googly eyes
- Markers
What to Do
Start by painting the bottom third of the paper plate green and the upper portion blue.
While waiting for the paper plate to dry, cut a strip of brown paper, cover it in glue, and roll it around your cake pop (you could also paint a popsicle stick brown or leave it as is).
Next, cut out a flower and some leaves from your construction paper and glue them onto your cake pop stick or popsicle stick. You could also decorate your flower if you’d like.
Once the paper plate is dry, cut a slit about three inches in length, right where the blue and green colors meet. Next, brush a generous amount of liquid glue on the green section and glue on a few stretched-out cotton balls to the upper section.
Once everything is dry, insert your flower into the slit in the paper plate and have fun! Ask your child to tell a story using their paper plate craft. Maybe it is a story about a flower that just bloomed, or maybe it’s a dancing flower. Have fun and enjoy watching your child’s imagination and creativity bloom.
