We took our one-pot playdough recipe and added tangerine essential oil and the results were AMAZING! Homemade tangerine playdough was a mix between our lemon playdough and orange playdough. It smelled so fresh and was an instant mood booster!
What You’ll Need
- Homemade playdough
- Tangerine essential oil
- Food coloring
- Cookie cutters
- Scissors
- Mini rolling pin and playdough accessories
- Animals
What to Do
We started by making a double batch of our one-pot playdough. Once it was cool enough to handle, we kneaded it a bit and added a few drops of red and yellow food coloring to make a vibrant orange playdough (if you want to add in a color mixing lesson, check our color wheel printables here.) We then added several drops of tangerine essential oil. Now I’m not one to handle fragrances or perfumes but this smelled so so good!
We then laid out the playdough with a few fun items and let the kids get to work.
It’s amazing to me, even after all of our different playdough activities, the kids find a new way to play every time. Their creativity really does grow with each activity. This time the animals landed in some sort of tangerine scented quicksand and needed to be rescued.
It all started with the cow but before long all of the animals had joined in …
And then the baby wanted to see what all the fuss was about and decided she wanted to join in on the fun too … I guess the tangerine smell was calling to her. 😉
