I’m so glad you’re here!

I’m a mom of four with a love for finding the good stuff—whether it’s a ridiculously comfortable pair of shoes, a game my family can’t stop playing, something that makes our home work better, or a resource that makes learning more fun.

I’ve always been drawn to things that are both useful and beautiful, and I’m admittedly pretty picky about what earns a recommendation around here. I try a lot so I can share the things that are actually worth your time and money.

Think of me as that friend who finds the good stuff—and then immediately has to tell you about it. 😂

How The Art Kit Began

The Art Kit started with my love of creating things for my kids.

As a mom, I was constantly looking for simple ways to make learning and everyday life more fun—printable activities, coloring pages, crafts, games, and projects that didn't require a mile-long supply list or three hours of preparation.

I started creating my own and sharing them here.

Over the years, The Art Kit grew into a huge collection of printables, coloring pages, crafts, activities, learning resources, and ideas for families. Many of the things I've created have been inspired by my own children, their interests, and whatever happened to capture our attention at the time.

And while you'll still find plenty of those things here, somewhere along the way I realized I was sharing a lot more than printables.

Because that's what I do in real life, too.

I’m Always Looking for the Good Stuff

If I find an amazing game, I want to tell someone about it.

If I finally find shoes that are actually comfortable, I'm talking about them.

If I discover something that makes organizing the house easier, a food my family loves, a useful homeschool resource, a beauty product that earns a permanent spot in my routine, or a ridiculously good sale... somebody is going to hear about it. 😂

I'm also the person who shops sales throughout the year to keep the gift closet stocked. There is something deeply satisfying about needing a gift and realizing Past Dana already bought the perfect thing for 60% off.

So as The Art Kit has grown, I've let it grow with me.

Today, this is a place where I share the things that make family life easier, more enjoyable, more beautiful, or just plain more fun.

What You’ll Find on The Art Kit

You'll still find the creative resources The Art Kit has been known for—crafts, activities, printables, coloring pages, and learning ideas.

But you'll also find honest reviews and recommendations for things we've actually tried, including family games, homeschool and learning resources, home and organizing finds, food and wellness favorites, shoes, style and beauty finds, and everyday products that make life a little better.

Sometimes it's something practical.

Sometimes it's something beautiful.

Sometimes it's a game nobody in the house wants to put away.

And sometimes it's a completely unnecessary thing that brings me an unreasonable amount of joy. Those are allowed too. 😂

I’m Picky So You Don’t Have to Be

There are approximately eleven billion things you could buy on the internet. You don't need me adding another 500 mediocre ones to your list.

I'd rather help you find the really good ones.

I research. I compare. I read ingredients and specifications. I try things. I notice the little details. And if there are things I don't like about a product, I want you to know those too.

Not everything I try becomes a favorite—and that's kind of the point.

When I recommend something, I want it to be because I genuinely think it's worth knowing about.

Of course, what works beautifully for my family may not be the perfect fit for yours, but I'll always do my best to give you enough information to decide for yourself.

A Little More About Me

When I'm not working on The Art Kit, there's a pretty good chance I'm rearranging something in the house, organizing a closet that absolutely did not ask to be organized, researching something I suddenly need to know everything about, or working on a project with my family.

I've always loved interior design, home decorating, organizing, simplifying, and creating beautiful spaces, and my educational background includes interior design, home staging and redesign, and digital media design.

I love things that look beautiful—but I also want them to work in real life.

Because this is a house where people actually live.

I love spending time with my family, getting outside for walks in the sunshine, creating things, baking, finding great deals, and discovering those little things that make an ordinary day better.

I'm a homebody who also really likes getting out of the house. Apparently both can be true. 😂

Why “The Art Kit”?

The Art Kit began as a creative space, so the name made perfect sense.

But the more the site has grown, the more I've realized that creativity is only part of what “the art” means to me now.

There is an art to creating a home you love.

An art to finding things that make life easier.

An art to choosing what is worth bringing into your home—and what isn't.

An art to making learning fun, creating memories with your family, finding beauty in ordinary things, and getting a fantastic deal on something you were going to buy anyway. 😉

So maybe The Art Kit has grown up a little.

But at its heart, it's still about the same thing:

Finding and creating more of the good stuff in everyday life.
