Egg Carton Ladybug Craft (+ Free Printable Leaf!)

These egg carton ladybugs are so cute – and, they can be played with later! They’re perfect for creative and imaginative play!
A fun and easy recycled craft for kids!
Looking for a cute and easy bug craft for kids? This egg carton ladybug craft is a fun way to recycle and get creative! Plus, I’ve included a free printable leaf template to complete the project.
It’s perfect for spring, Earth Day, insect studies, or a rainy-day activity.
Materials Needed:
- An empty egg carton (these are the ones we used!)
- Red and black paint
- Googly eyes
- Pipe cleaners (for antennae)
- Hot glue
- Scissors

Step-by-Step Instructions
1️⃣ Cut & Prep – Cut out the egg carton sections to make the ladybug bodies.
2️⃣ Paint the Body – Paint them red and let them dry.
3️⃣ Add Spots & Eyes – Use black paint/markers for spots and attach googly eyes.
4️⃣ Attach Antennae and Legs – Glue pipe cleaners on for cute antennae and legs.
5️⃣ Print & Cut the Leaf – Use the free printable to add a fun touch! You can add cardboard to the back and glue it on with a glue stick. This is our favorite way to cut cardboard! It makes cutting so easy – much easier than scissors!
