What to Do
Begin by downloading and printing the glitter tape hearts printable. This will make this craft easy peasy! We recently signed up for the HP Instant Ink program and are loving it! They offer several different plans (such as $4.99 for 100 pages a month) and will automatically send you new cartridges before you even need them.
We are now saving SO MUCH money (and time) on ink and I don’t feel guilty printing out new printables and playdough mats each day. If you want to check it out, ordering through our link here will give you one free month of service. You can use just about any HP printer but we’ve been using this compact one and absolutely love it! The color is gorgeous and matches my decor (we’ll call that a win!) and the size is smaller than any printer I’ve ever owned which is great for small spaces (or living room/dining room offices). Between HP Instant Ink and our compact printer, my printing life truly has become so much easier to print all these fun playdough mats and activity sheets we’ve been making lately.

Print out your glitter tape hearts printable and gather your supplies.
Next, roughly cut out the hearts, leaving some space around each one. We included three different sizes – you can use all three or, if you have very little ones, you may decide the smaller hearts are more their speed (they will take less time and tape to cover them).
Next, cut off a strip of glitter tape and place it on the paper heart. Repeat until the heart is completely covered. There is no right or wrong way to do this – you could place the tape all in a line or place the tape strips on completely randomly.

Once the paper hearts have been completely covered in glitter tape, cut them out. You may need to help with this step as it may be a little difficult to see the outline of the heart, especially if your artists went heavy on the glitter tape. This was one of my favorite steps of the project as it was so fun to see the final reveal.

We turned our hearts over and taped on a bit of bakers twine so that we could hang our glitter tape hearts from doorknobs and cabinet pulls but you could leave them as is and use them to write little notes for Valentine’s Day (or any day!), or you could string them and make them into a heart garland or banner.
I love how sparkly the glitter tape hearts turned out!
