Exploring Creation with Zoology 2: Apologia Book Review
This Apologia science book for elementary students will take you and your family on a thrilling educational journey of the underwater creatures of the sea.
Written directly to the student, you’ll love the conversational style of text, making learning about the creatures God created on the fifth day enjoyable and fun.
And, to make it even easier for you, they also offer a notebooking journal and a convenient lab kit that contains nearly every non-household item the curriculum requires.

Zoology 2 includes 13 lessons that can be broken up into manageable pieces depending on your child and family needs.
Many find themselves completing the reading and notebook assignments over one week and then spending a second week on the experiments.
The notebooking journal is a wonderful addition and includes:
- Review questions
- Areas to label the diagrams
- Spaces to add sketches
- Copywork pages
- Crossword puzzles
- Flap books to make
- And much more!
There are even extra resources available through their website. To access it, simply enter the password included in the textbook.
A handy guide is included in the beginning of the textbook that outlines every material that will be needed for each lesson, making it easy to prepare ahead of time.
Your child will love learning about:
- Aquatic animals
- Whales
- Seals and sea cows
- Herps
- Primeval reptiles
- Fish
- Sharks and rays
- Crustaceans
- Mollusks
- Cephalopods
- Echinoderms
- Cnidarians
- And other interesting aquatic animals!
Exploring Creation with Zoology 2 is loaded with photos from the sea and helpful diagrams. Many hands-on activities are also included to make learning memorable.
I loved how they included prompts throughout the text, such as “Explain some of the interesting things you have learned about slipper shells, abalones, and limpets.” This is great for reading comprehension and to ensure the student is understanding what they are reading.
In addition, at the end of each chapter is a helpful, “What do you remember?” section, as well as notebok activities, an experiment, and a fun project.
Exploring Creation with Zoology 2 is available to purchase from Timberdoodle. You can purchase items separately or bundled together in curriculum kits.
