Rice is a wonderful sensory activity for children and terrific for imaginative play.
Our children love playing with our themed rice kits and will spend hours with them, day after day.
Activities such as playing with sensory rice kits can also help with:
- Building nerve connections in the brain's pathways
- Language
- Numeracy
- Self-confidence
- Developing and enhancing memory
Sensory play is so important for children but many do not spend nearly enough time engaging in sensory-rich activities.

How to Dye Rice for the Sensory Bin

How to Make Your Own Dinosaur Sensory Bin
- Place your rice in the bin - we used brown, blue, and green rice and arranged it to make it appear as though there was a pond, a grassy area, and some dirt in our scene.
- Add wood discs, gems, and plants.
- Add eggs, dinosaurs, and some scoopers.
- Invite your child to play!
I love making sensory bins - it is so fun setting them up and the kids absolutely love playing with them. It's always fun to hear and see their imaginations come to life as they play with a sensory bin.
