Looking for a cursive book for the upper grades? CursiveLogic Speeches and Writings in American History is a compilation of speeches and writings from 18 different American figures that will engage your student while they work on their handwriting skills.
I love it when multiple subjects collide!
Please continue reading below for several photos of the book and our honest thoughts on this handwriting book for children.
What are the Benefits of Cursive?
Cursive feels a bit like a lost art these days but it’s an important skill to hold. Not only is it beneficial to be able to read cursive (think of all of those historical documents, personal letters, etc., that were written in cursive before print became standard) but writing in cursive can actually be soothing as the fluid motion of writing in cursive can be calming and meditative.
About this Cursive Book
CursiveLogic’s workbook includes a handy laminated reference chart for letters – both uppercase and lowercase – as well as numbers. Your child could even use this page to practice their handwriting with a dry-erase marker!
The cursive workbook includes a bit of review, including:
- Letter string practice
- Capital practice
- Checking your technique
- Midline connections
- Signatures
- And more!
Then, your child will explore Americans such as:
- Patrick Henry
- Paul Revere
- Benjamin Franklin
- Thomas Jefferson
- George Washington
- Susan B. Anthony
- Rosa Parks
- Martin Luther King
- And more!
Each section begins with a writing warm-up and vocabulary, a brief biography, a portrait, and a narrative for students to copy.
We loved the spiral, lay-flat binding (the pages did not come out like some spiral-bound books!) and the added historical information.
Who is this Cursive Book for?
This workbook is designed for upper-grade students who are looking to fine-tune their handwriting skills or learn more about U.S. history.
