Simple Counting Activity for Kids - Repurposing Items You Already Own

Looking for a very simple to put together (but fun!) counting activity for kids? We put together two items we already had at home and came up with a super easy counting activity for little ones. Read on to see what we used and how we put it all together.
What You'll Need
What to Do
Begin by taking out your number puzzle and pom poms. You could also take out a small basket or container to place the pom poms in if you'd like. If you don't have pom poms, you could also use buttons, beads, or math counters.
Next, remove all the number puzzle pieces and set out the empty puzzle and container of pom poms (or other objects) for your child.
Invite your child to place the appropriate number of pom poms in each section to match the number.
We even tried it with Miss 16 months but I think she needs a little more practice. 😉
To add another step, you could invite your child to match the pom pom color to the colors inside the number.
Miss 7 helped me with this activity and had fun placing all the pom poms directly on each picture (as you can see above with numbers two and three).
