We just wrapped up our second week of The Peaceful Press and loved it! If you didn't see our post from week one, you can check it out here. To see what we did in week two, please continue reading below.

We read several more chapters in Farmer Boy (and drooled reading about all the yummy foods they ate!) and learned all about snowflakes in The Story of Snow.

The girls also enjoyed playing with a winter-themed playdough kit I put together for them. I added in some kid-safe essential oils to really give it a wintery feel (never mind the 85-degree temperature in the house 😉 ).

I included glass stones, cookie cutters, pom poms, scissors, an "S" playdough stamp, and of course a fresh batch of homemade playdough.
We also ate pancakes and worked on our new looms. Miss 2 enjoyed working on her own threading activity while big sisters worked on their looms. Miss 5 used the smaller loom and Miss 8 used the slightly larger lap loom. I want to try this loom next - it looks like it would be a lot of fun as well!

We also started our timeline and rolled a bunch of beeswax candles. Even Miss 2 rolled her own candles! The beeswax smelled so good and they were so proud of their work. Every night at dinner they ask to light their candles. 🙂

We also took out our favorite map so that we could see where Almanzo lived.

Next, the girls painted winter scenes with pastels, watercolor, and salt. Miss 8 painted Almanzo sledding down a big hill on a windy day.

Miss 5 painted a ladder and trees while Miss 2 painted with her favorite color - yellow - and a generous amount of salt.

We also put together a covered wagon. It might sound like a lot but it wasn't overwhelming at all, especially considering it was spread out over an entire week.

I also pulled out our farm book to read to Miss 2. What a fun week!
