Do your children love getting things in the mail? I know mine do!
So when I heard about The Heritage Letter's monthly subscription for children, I was so excited! Not only is it fun for the kids but it is affordable and educational.
Each month you will receive a letter written from the perspective of an American legend and how they contributed to American history. In addition, you will receive a photo/fact card, and an artifact (such as a picture, artwork, map, or quote).
When the letter about Laura Ingalls Wilder arrived, we pulled out our Little House on the Prairie books and reread them. We're big Little House fans here so we were thrilled to see Laura as the letter of the month!
Laura even signed the letter - how exciting!! 🙂
The girls and I have learned so much about American History thanks to The Heritage Letter! I love that you aren't flooded with too much information at a time - the letters are just the right length so you can really absorb and retain the information.
I also love that the letters don't take up a lot of space and can be easily tucked into a box, slipped on the bookshelf in between books, or placed into sheet protectors and kept in a binder.
The Heritage Letter is a great starting point for a unit study - you can get as in-depth as you'd like - or, you can simply read and enjoy each letter as they come and not add anything else.
