Looking for an affordable all-in-one-art kit for kids? We recently discovered Djeco’s sand art kits and we’re hooked! Not only are they loads of fun but the results are absolutely frame-worthy. Read on to see what’s included in Djeco’s rainbow fish sand art kit and to see all the photos of the fun we had.
What You’ll Need
Djeco sand art kit – rainbow fish
What’s Included?
- Storage box that doubles as a workstation and funnel
- Four very sturdy card templates with different fish designs
- Nine pots of colored sand
- Two pots of glitter
- Sticker removal tool
- Illustrated instruction booklet
We started by taking everything out of the box and choosing which template we wanted to start with. Miss 7 chose her pattern and placed it into the box. We then placed the box on top of a craft tray just to keep everything contained even further.
The instruction book includes all four of the different patterns of fish and outlines which colors of sand or glitter to use on which numbered section. The instructions were very easy to follow – basically, each template card is covered in numbered stickers and the object is to peel off all of the stickers assigned to that number (for example, peel off all the number one stickers) and then pour the assigned colored sand on the board, then pour off the excess. These steps are repeated until your design is completely covered in sand.
We snapped this picture as we were scrolling through the instruction book and I realize it isn’t the one that matches the card we chose to work on but I did want to point out that there are separate instructions for each fish design. 🙂
Okay, so back to the art project! Once Miss 7 chose which card she wanted to start with, she began peeling off all the number one stickers with the sticker removal tool. She had no problems removing the stickers, even the smallest ones.
Once all the number one stickers had been removed, it was time to pour the sand on! Be sure your card is in the box for this step as it includes a handy slot at one corner that makes it so easy to pour the excess sand back into the container.
Once the sticky areas have been covered in sand, tilt your box to the lower right side and pour the excess sand back into its container. So easy!!
Miss 7 worked on her card over the next few days, happily peeling stickers and pouring sand. It looked so relaxing and I almost snuck a card for myself. 🙂 Even with the multiple colors of sand, there was very little mixing between colors.
Here’s the completed design:
Fun, right? To be honest, I wasn’t too sure about this art kit when I saw it online but Miss 7 was excited to try it so I decided to give it a try and I am so glad we did! It ended up being sooo fun and I can’t wait to try some of Djeco’s other sand art kits. This set is next on our list so stay tuned for the results! 🙂
