How to Make Your Honeycomb

  • Use liquid glue to glue the wood pieces together. This is what we used for the honeycomb.
  • Then, once dry, paint yellow.
  • Your child can use this to fill with pom poms in the bee sensory bin.

How to Make Your Bee Sensory Bin: Step-by-Step

  • Add 3 cups of uncooked rice to a gallon bag.
  • Squirt some yellow paint into the bag.
  • Seal the bag, removing most of the excess air before sealing.
  • Squish the rice and paint together until well mixed. Add more and repeat if needed.
  • Pour the rice onto a piece of waxed paper or a tray and allow it to dry (the rice dries fairly quickly – typically about 30 minutes or so but you could let it dry overnight if you’d prefer).

Sensory Bin Clean Up Tips

Sensory play can get a bit messy, but here’s a tip: Lay a large sheet or plastic tablecloth underneath the bin to catch any stray rice. Once playtime is over, pour the leftover rice into a sealed container and store it for future play.
