How to Make Your Own Color Wheel From Rocks

What You'll Need
- Rocks
- Paint
- Paint brushes
- Mod Podge
What to Do
Begin by washing and drying your rocks.
Once your rocks are dry, apply a fairly thick layer of white paint.
Once dry, begin painting your rocks the colors of the color wheel.
Paint the first three of your rocks in the primary colors - red, blue, and yellow.
Now, paint the next three rocks in the secondary colors - purple, orange, and green.
Finally, paint the next six rocks in the tertiary colors - blue-green, yellow-green, red-violet, yellow-orange, blue-violet, and red-orange.
You may need to apply another coat or two to your rocks. We ended up applying about three coats of paint to ensure full coverage and rich colors. Allow the rocks to dry completely between coats.
Once your color wheel rocks have been painted and are completely dry, apply a layer of Mod Podge to seal the paint. Allow to dry completely before using.
Now it's time to play! Set the color wheel rocks out for your child along with our downloadable color wheel and invite them to arrange the rocks to recreate the color wheel.
Our printable sheet is double sided - one side has color and one does not, allowing your child to use whichever side they feel most comfortable using (color for beginners and black and white for those with more knowledge of the color wheel).
