Cat Crimes is a fun logic game for ages 8 and up. Cat Crimes reminded me a bit of the game of Clue but with a fun cat theme. If the hilarious artwork doesn’t get you laughing, the cats’ antics will! For anyone who has owned a cat, you know the mischievous antics they often find themselves in – such as unraveling yarn, spilling coffee, even ruining shoes.

Inside the box you will find:

  • A sturdy game board
  • Six cat pieces
  • Six crime tokens
  • 40 challenge and solution cards (one side features the challenge, then flip it over to see the solution)
  • Clear instructions

I was stoked to discover that none of the components were plastic. Everything was very durable and held up well to play by Miss 8, Miss 5, and Miss 2.

To play, select a challenge card, place the appropriate crime token in the proper position on the game board, and try to solve the crime. Fortunately, they start you out with beginner challenges because I will say – the challenges definitely got challenging!! What good brain exercise this game was!

After placing the crime token on the board, read through the clues on the challenge card, placing the cats in the appropriate locations as you go. Once you’ve placed all the cats and solved the crime, turn the challenge card over to see if you chose correctly.

Cat Crimes promotes critical reasoning, logical deduction skills, and teamwork (you can play the game alone or work together to solve the mystery). Miss 5 was a bit too young for the game but that didn’t stop her from joining in with Miss 8 and me and trying to help us solve the mysteries. Miss 8 played several games on her own after we worked together on a few. She had a blast with the game and I would definitely recommend this game to others.
