How to Make Slime {With Seeds!}

If you're looking for a fun twist on the classic slime recipe, this is it! We added chia seeds to our latest batch of homemade slime and it added a terrific additional fun sensory element. Continue reading below to learn how to make slime with chia seeds.

What You'll Need

White glue
Water
Liquid starch
Chia seeds
Food coloring
Mixing bowl and spoon (x2)
½ cup measuring cup
Silicon cupcake liners or other play toys

What to Do

Begin by pouring ½ cup of water and ½ cup of white glue into your mixing bowl. Mix well.

Next, add a few drops of food coloring and 2-3 tablespoons of hydrated chia seeds. Mix well.

Note: To hydrate your chia seeds, pour about 6 ounces of water and 2 tablespoons of chia seeds into a separate bowl, stir, and let sit for 10-20 minutes until gel-like (you'll notice a barrier of "gel" around each individual chia seed - that's when you know you've hydrated your chia seeds).

Now, add ½ cup of liquid starch to your water and glue mixture and mix well. After a minute or so of mixing (when it starts to clump up), you can begin to mix with your hands. It takes about 5-10 minutes to really begin to look like slime. Be patient - keep working it and before you know it, you'll have the perfect chia seed slime!

Miss 4 wasn't sure about the chia seed addition to the slime but Miss 7 thought it was great fun and played with it for hours. She put some of the chia seed slime into silicon cupcake liners and then scooped hydrated chia seeds onto the top to make play ice cream and cupcakes. She even smoothed out the slime and then scooped more hydrated chia seeds on top, then rolled it up to make her own slime roll cake.

She also had fun using cookie cutters with the chia seed slime.
