Supplies you'll need for this pumpkin sorting activity:
How to use this activity:
- Print out the sheets and laminate them (optional).
- Cut out the pumpkins and baskets.
- Mix the pumpkins up.
- Set the three baskets out along with a stack of pumpkins.
- Invite your child to sort the pumpkins by noun, verb, or adjective.
Variations for play:
- Ask your child how to spell the words on the pumpkins.
- Arrange the pumpkins in alphabetical order (you may prefer not to use all of the pumpkins at once).
- Show your child one of the pumpkins and invite them to use that word in a sentence.
- Invite your child to create a story using the words on three of the pumpkins.
- Invite your child to draw a picture depicting one of the words on the pumpkins.
- Invite your child to select one of the pumpkins and ask them to tell you a word that rhymes with the word on the pumpkin.
