Chocolate Dipped Animal Crackers {With Sprinkles}
Looking for a simple yet tasty treat? These chocolate dipped animal crackers will no doubt have your taste buds watering! You won’t believe how easy these (adorable!) bite-size treats are to make and how delicious they are, whether served alone or as a topper in a bowl of ice cream. Read on to discover our tip on how we kept the melted chocolate on the cracker and not all over our hands (although the latter might not be half bad either.) 😉

What You’ll Need
Spoon
Cookie sheet or tray
Microwave
What to Do
Begin by gathering your supplies.
Place a sheet of parchment paper on your cookie sheet or tray. This will keep the chocolate dipped cookies from sticking to your cookie sheet or tray. Also, ideally, select a cookie sheet or tray that will fit into your fridge as you will want to briefly chill the cookies after you’ve dipped them in chocolate and sprinkles. You could also line a plate with parchment paper if you do not have room in your fridge for a larger tray or cookie sheet.
Next, pour some chocolate chips into a microwave safe bowl (we used about a cup) and microwave them in 30-second increments, mixing every 30 seconds (we microwaved our chocolate chips a total of one minute).
Next, pour some sprinkles into your second bowl and your animal crackers in a third bowl.
Now it’s time to get started! Take an animal cracker and dip it about half way into your bowl of melted chocolate.
Then, dip your freshly chocolate-dipped animal cracker into the bowl of sprinkles.
Next, place your finished cracker on your cookie sheet or tray. Repeat until your tray (or belly!) is full. Aren’t they cute? The animals look like they have skirts on, don’t they? So fun! Maybe next time we’ll dip their heads to give them some silly hairdos!
After you’ve filled your tray, place it in the fridge for about 10-15 minutes (you could leave it in longer as well but it takes about 10-15 minutes for the chocolate to set). This will allow the chocolate to harden and set. At this point, feel free to remove the crackers from the tray and place them in an airtight container or plastic bag (if you can manage not to eat them all – trust us on this – it isn’t easy!)
I’m not sure if the kids had more fun dipping the animal crackers in chocolate and sprinkles or eating them but I can guarantee that we’ll be making another batch of these soon! They are perfect alone (or perhaps with a glass of milk) or as a topper in a bowl of ice cream. They’re also great for a summertime treat or after-school snack. So, basically, they’re great anytime of the year! 😉
That’s it! Simple, right? What do you think? Would you try these? Let us know in the comment section below.
